Google Analytics: optional measurement
Configuration introduced on 5 October 2026. Only if you accept analytics cookies does The Method Files use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to measure visits to its public pages, traffic sources, commercial interactions and confirmed purchases. Technical browser data, cookie identifiers, the pages and interactions measured and, for purchases, a pseudonymous identifier, the products and their amounts are sent. We do not send names, email addresses, payment details or private notebook content. We do not install this measurement on lessons or in the account area.
The purpose is to understand how the website is used and how effective its content and campaigns are. The basis is your consent, which you can refuse or withdraw using the website's ‘Cookies’ button. Withdrawal does not affect earlier processing. We do not enable personalised advertising or Google Signals. Google may process data outside the European Economic Area under its contractual safeguards. See how Google uses this data and its data processing terms.
The first-party analytics cookies _ga and _ga_E76NHL0TP4 distinguish browsers and sessions; they are configured with a maximum lifetime of 180 days without automatic renewal. The technical preference tmf_analytics_consent_v1 retains your choice for 180 days. The session storage tmf_ga4_purchase_*, created only after you accept, helps prevent a purchase from being counted again in the same session. You can delete this data through your browser. If you decline, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded. Burst Statistics remains a separate tool with the scope described in this policy.
To exercise your rights or ask about the processing: info@themethodfiles.com.
The remaining information about data processing and how the website operates is set out below.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website may store on a user's device when they visit a page.
Among other functions, they can be used to keep a user logged in, remember certain preferences, retain temporary browsing information or enable particular site features to work.
2. Cookies used by The Method Files
The Method Files uses technical cookies necessary for WordPress to operate, to identify registered users and for certain WooCommerce functions.
These cookies are not used to create advertising profiles of users.
WordPress
When a user logs in, WordPress may use cookies such as:
wordpress_[hash]
Used to manage user authentication.
wordpress_logged_in_[hash]
Identifies that the user has logged in and keeps their website session active.
wordpress_sec_[hash]
May be used to manage authentication securely when the site operates over HTTPS.
wp-settings-[UID] and wp-settings-time-[UID]
Retain certain interface preferences for the logged-in user.
wordpress_test_cookie
A temporary cookie used to check whether the browser allows cookies.
WordPress uses these cookies for authentication and the operation of user accounts.
WooCommerce
Depending on the features a visitor uses, WooCommerce may set technical cookies such as:
woocommerce_cart_hash
Lifetime: session.
Detects changes to the contents of the cart.
woocommerce_items_in_cart
Lifetime: session.
Identifies whether there are products in the cart.
wp_woocommerce_session_
Approximate lifetime: 2 days.
Associates the visitor with their WooCommerce session data.
woocommerce_recently_viewed
Lifetime: session.
May be used if the recently viewed products feature is enabled.
WooCommerce uses these cookies for session and shop functions. WooCommerce states that these cookies do not store personal information directly within them.
3. Purchases, cart and payment
Direct purchases and downloads of new The Method Files products are managed through WooCommerce. WooCommerce uses the cookies and technical storage necessary to maintain the cart, the purchase session and access to certain functions requested by the user.
Direct payments are processed through WooPayments. The payment provider may use technologies necessary for security, authentication, fraud prevention and payment processing. The Method Files does not use these technologies to create its own advertising profiles.
During the catalogue migration, some older products may still link to Gumroad. When you access an external platform, it may use its own cookies and technologies in accordance with its policies. The Method Files does not control cookies installed directly by external services.
4. Technical cookies and consent
Cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to operate, for authentication, security or functions expressly requested by the user may be used without prior consent.
The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) recognises technical cookies that are exempt from the consent requirement when they are necessary to enable browsing or provide a function requested by the user.
5. Analytics, advertising or tracking cookies
Pages that incorporate Google Analytics 4 request consent before loading its tag and analytics cookies, for the purpose and within the scope described at the beginning of this policy. We do not use personalised advertising cookies.
Users must be able to:
Accept non-essential cookies.
Reject them.
Configure their preferences.
The option to reject must be presented at the same level and with equivalent visibility to the option to accept. Merely browsing the website will not be considered valid consent.
6. Withdrawing or changing consent
Where cookies requiring consent are used, users may change or withdraw their consent as easily as they gave it.
The ‘Cookies’ button, available on pages that incorporate optional measurement, lets you reopen preferences and withdraw or change your consent.
The AEPD also considers it good practice for cookie consent to last no longer than 24 months before the user is asked to make the choice again.
7. How to delete cookies through your browser
Users can also delete or block cookies through their browser settings.
Modern browsers allow users to view stored cookies, delete them and limit their use.
Blocking certain technical cookies may prevent some website features, such as logging in or certain WooCommerce tools, from working correctly.
8. Third-party cookies
The Method Files may include links to external services.
When users voluntarily access those services, the services may install their own cookies in accordance with their respective policies.
The Method Files does not control cookies used directly by external websites.
9. Changes to this Cookie Policy
This policy may be updated when website features, the plugins used, technology providers or applicable legislation change.
When new cookies are introduced or their purpose changes significantly, this page will be updated and, where necessary, users will be asked for consent again.
10. Contact
For any questions about the use of cookies on The Method Files:
Collaborators: optional purchase attribution
From 19 October 2026, collaborator links may request a specific choice, separate from analytics. The first-party cookie tmf_partner_ref is stored only when you accept, with a signed reference to the collaborator and a maximum lifetime of 30 days. The technical cookie tmf_partner_choice remembers your acceptance or rejection for 30 days. You can withdraw permission through ‘Collaborator preferences’ at the foot of the website. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.
If you place an order with a valid reference, it is associated with the order to calculate and review the commission. The collaborator area shows amounts, dates and internal references, without buyers' names, email addresses or payment details. The module does not retain a history of visits or IP addresses for affiliate attribution. Order, review and settlement records are retained in accordance with the management periods and obligations described in this policy. See the details of the programme and tracking.
Measurement of Laboratory experiences
From 15 October 2026, optional Google Analytics measurement includes starting, viewing the result of and following continuation links from the five Laboratory experiences. It is activated only if you accept analytics. The public experience and related course are identified; we do not send your choices, creations, score or notes. Your work and progress are saved in your browser, not in your account. You can change your choice in ‘Cookies’.
